Dermal fillers are a gel-like substance made up of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is already naturally present in your skin and is responsible for keeping it hydrated and replenished. We have a lot of it when we’re younger but it dissolves as we get older.
The fillers come in different densities. Some are thicker than others and they can be used to either plump out lines in the face or they can be used to enhance existing features or to replace lost volume; in your lips or cheeks for example. Either an injection technique with a needle is used or something called a cannula, which is a blunt tube, to place the filler in to/under the skin. The type of filler which would be used would be decided upon at your consultation.
Dermal fillers are a temporary option and your body will break them down over time.
